Shelley - please let me know when/if someone submits for watershed variances - so that Matthew and I can look to
make sure the plan has what we need.

Matthew - honestly, we're going to be going through a staff transition soon. In the short-term, it may be
necessary to have you look at the plan prior to submittal, to ensure it has what you need. I'll work with
you to get what you need long-term but please understand - it'll be clear in a day or two.

Hello Aaron and Chris,
I believe I talked to Aaron about this the day after our State Water Supply
Watershed Audit back on 4/27/21. The State auditor that came reviewed the
ZBA files on Watershed variances that had been approved over the last five
years. All the variances we had on file were approved by the County ZBA. The
auditor wanted us to coordinate with Planning staff to ensure that future
variances contained specific parameters (i.e. sgaure footage, etc.) for what is
being requested by the applicant and what is being approved by the Board. For
example, submitted site plans for variance requests should contain the square
footage of existing BUA, square footage of additional BUA being requested, and
the square footage of the overage that is being considered for approval by the
Board. I will be sure to include this on any future staff reports I write for
Watershed variances. However, I will need to work with Planning staff to ensure
that applicants are aware that this information needs to be provided at the time
they apply for the variance so staff can outline the specific request they are
making in the staff report. The auditor wants to see documentation of
agreement between Erosion Control staff and Planning staff to ensure future
Watershed variances contain the needed information. If you are agreeable to
this partnership to ensure these matters are addressed, please reply with your
acceptance and endorsement. If you have any questions about any of this, I will
be happy to elaborate further. Thank you both in advance.
