February 22, 2018 TOWN OF WALKERTOWN WA UDO-22 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER C OF THE WALKERTOWN UNIFIED DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCES TO ALLOW GRAVEL SURFACES TO BE CONSIDERED PERVIOUS Be it ordained by the Town Council of the Town of Walkertown, North Carolina, that the Unified Development Ordinances is hereby amended as follows: Section 1. Chapter C, Article III — Definitions is hereby amended as follows: Chapter C - Environmental Ordinance Article III, Section 3-1.8 (B) — Definitions BUILT -UPON AREA.--piect that is covered by w -.us ar partially in Impervious surface and partially impervious surface to the extent that the vartially impervious surface does not allow water to infiltrate through the surface and into the subsoil. "Built -upon area" does not include a slatted -deck the water area of a swimming pool, a surface of number 57 stone, as designated by the American Society for Testing and Materials, laid at least four inches thick over a geotextile fabric; or a trail as defined in G.S. 113A-85 that is either unpaved or paved as longas s the pavement is porous with a hydraulic conductivity greater than 0A01 centimeters per second (1.41 inches per hour). Provided, however, that in order to be exempted from treatment as "built -upon area" the use of Number 57 stone must be a roved by the Elected Body in connection with a Special Use zoning application and approved site plan(including an amended siteplan), pursuant to UDO Chapter B Article VI Sections 6-2.1.2 or 6-2.2, including a condition that the applicant provide an Engineer's certification that the installation of the number 57 stone and geotextile fabric was done in compliance with this provision. IMPERVIOUS COVER. Any material which significantly reduces or prevents natural absorption of stormwater into the soil. Impervious covers include, but are not limited to, buildings or other structures with roofs.. sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and any concrete, stone, brick, asphalt, or gravel surfaces that do not comply with the exception as outlined in the definition for Built -Upon Area.
