DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED INJECTION ACTIVITIES -Provide a brief narrative regarding the purpose, scope, and goals of the proposed injection activity. This should include the rate, volume, and duration of injection over time. Purpose The purpose of this small scale injection is to reduce dissolved chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbon (CAH) concentrations within the shallow source zone and within the "hotspot" of the dissolved contaminant plume. The injection will utilize Beverage Remediation Product (BRP) along with Dynamic Pulse Air Sparging. Scope The small scale injection will focus on the shallow source zone and intermediate dissolved groundwater contamination. Prior to the BRP injection, CATLIN will conduct a baseline sampling event to determine current site conditions. We will collect representative groundwater samples from select monitoring wells for analysis of CAH compounds per Standard Method (SM) 6200 and the following natural attenuation parameters: Field Test Laboratory Analvsis pH Methane, Ethane and Ethene Tem perature .Chloride Dissolved Oxygen Total Organic Carbons Specific Conductivity Total and Dissolved Metals Oxidation-Reduction Potential (Arsenic, Chromium, Iron and Manganese) Total and Dissolved Phosphorous Following the baseline sampling event, CATLIN will mobilize to the site and conduct a BRP injection event utilizing a number of the proposed monitoring/injection wells and existing monitoring wells MW- 04D and/or 06IMW-21. Following the injection event, we will perform post-BRP injection sampling events at 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months (if needed) to track the BRP movement in the subsurface and the impacts on the groundwater contaminants. Section M describes performance monitoring in more detail. Once it appears that the injected BRP has been close to exhausted, CATLIN will conduct a Dynamic Pulse Sparge Event utilizing wells MW-4D, 06IMW-0l, 06IMW-21 and three proposed sparge wells (if needed). The Dynamic Pulse Sparge event temporarily displaces water as air is injected into the subsurface. The displaced water creates a "washing" action through the subsurface soils and helps loosen and mobilize potentially trapped contamination within the interstitial zones above and/or between the monitoring wells, which can then be treated. The small scale injection is anticipated to consist of two BRP injection events and two Dynamic Pulse Sparge events. CATLIN will evaluate the need for additional injections based on the results of the performance monitoring . We will modify the frequency, volume and concentration of the BRP injection to provide sufficient amounts of electron donor that produce a carbon loading rate of at least 100 milligrams per liter (mg/L) and optimize groundwater pH. SCHEDULES -Briefly describe the schedule for well construction and injection activities. The following is an anticipated schedule for well construction and injection activities: • CATLIN will install the proposed monitoring/injection wells prior to injection to further delineate the source zone contamination. • We will conduct the first BRP injection event in November/December 2017. • Following the injection event, CATLIN will conduct post BRP sampling on a quarterly basis as needed. • CATLIN will conduct the first Dynamic Pulse Sparge event when the BRP is close to depletion, which will be field verified . • The second BRP injection event will be conducted roughly two weeks following the Dynamic Pulse Sparge event. • CATLIN will conduct the second Dynamic Pulse Sparge event follow!ng the second BRP event. M. MONITORING PLAN -Describe below or in separate attachment a monitoring plan to be used to determine if violations of groundwater quality standards specified in Subchapter 02L result from the injection activity. During each sampling event, CATLIN will collect groundwater samples for SM 6200 analysis . In addition, we will collect the following natural attenuation parameters: Field Test Laboratory Analysis pH Methane, Ethane and Ethene Temperature Chloride Dissolved Oxygen Total Organic Carbons Specific Conductivity Total and Dissolved Metals Oxidation-Reduction Potential (Arsenic, Chromium, Iron and Manganese) Total and Dissolved Phosphorous The following summarizes the proposed sampling events: • Pre-Injection Sampling -CATLIN will conduct a baseline sampling event and collect groundwater samples from select monitoring wells prior to the initial BRP injection. • Post BRP Sampling -Following each BRP injection, CATLIN will collect groundwater samples 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months (if necessary) from select monitoring wells. • Post Dynamic Pulse Sparge Sampling -Two weeks following each Dynamic Pulse Sparge Event, we will collect groundwater samples from select monitoring wells to be analyzed per SM 6200.
