- homes and businesses will be required for construction -- - - - - -- - - - - - - — - The purpose of the project is to improve access around the City of Asheboro and to the North Carolina Zoo relieve traffic congestion on existing U S 64 in Asheboro and enhance high speed regional travel along the U S 64 intrastate corridor In May 2004 Alternative 29 Corridor was selected as the Preferred Alternative for the U S 64 Asheboro Bypass A Design Public Hearing was held in March 2008 to present the final design of the project and the environmental document to the public Shortly after the hearing project work was suspended due to funding limitations Since project work has resumed the design has been modified slightly The design will be shown again at the upcoming hearing as well as presentation of the official transportation corridor Maps displaying the location of the Asheboro Bypass are available for public review at Asheboro Planning & Zoning Dept -
