The current setup is extremely vulnerable to vehicle damage. Justification: The tanks are double walled, but a spill would be costly in time, money, and to the environment. Stored materials include salt/slag, dirt, sand, rock, and other construction materials. The facility will be roofed to prevent pollution from material runoff, particularly salt. I ocatien: Wastewater Treatment Plant site in the old sludge drying beds location. Need 1 Benefit: Covered storage is necessary in order for the City to meet the requirements of the Phase 2 Stormwater regulations. Dry materials are more easily handled, particularly during inclement weather. Wet dirt can not be used to backfill water and sewer repair trenches. Justification: Sall and slag mixture lends to clump up when wet and does not spread well on pavements. The primary need for this facility is to meet Stormwater Permit requirements to prevent runoff from the stock piles. Other Information: Stockpile bin areas are needed. The building would be 2 sided with metal roof construction. The unit, the same as our current model, is both left and right steering drive. Location; Public Works Garage Need 1 Benefit: This equipment is required as a replacement of the current 2016 sweeper which will approach its useful life 2022. Justification: The City sweeps approximately 20 miles of roadways with curb and gutter, The vehicle is also used for vacuum cleaning drainage basins.
