Description: The proposed facility will provide covered storage of materials used by the Street
Department and Water & Sewer Department. Stored materials include salt/slag,
dirt, sand, rock, and other construction materials. The facility will be roofed to
prevent pollution from material runoff, particularly salt.
I ocatien: Wastewater Treatment Plant site in the old sludge drying beds location.
Need 1 Benefit: Covered storage is necessary in order for the City to meet the requirements of the
Phase 2 Stormwater regulations. Dry materials are more easily handled,
particularly during inclement weather. Wet dirt can not be used to backfill water
and sewer repair trenches.
Justification: Sall and slag mixture lends to clump up when wet and does not spread well on
pavements. The primary need for this facility is to meet Stormwater Permit
requirements to prevent runoff from the stock piles.
Other Information: Stockpile bin areas are needed. The building would be 2 sided with metal roof
construction.
