This request is submitted to satisfy property due diligence actions for possible future wetland permitting actions. This request is not being submitted due to the use of Federal funds. The Site consists of one parcel of land that totals approximately 23.14 acres (Mecklenburg County Parcel Number 01740104) in Huntersville, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina (Site or subject Site; see Figure 1). The Site is located at 10695 Hambright Road. The Site is comprised of open field areas and undeveloped forested land. A single-family residence previously existed in southeastern portion of the Site. The structure has since been removed from the property. The subject Site is located in a residential and commercial area. The Site currently consists of forested land on the western portion of the Site and a maintained, grassy area on the eastern portion of the Site. A lawn area associated with the former residence is located on the southwestern section of the Site. The Site also includes one sewerline and one powerline rights-of-way. Surrounding properties include a Ms. Renee Gledhill-Earley March 12, 2021 Page 2 of 3 S:\AAA-Master Projects\Sports Village Land Group - SVG\SVG-001\Permitting\Agency Letters\SHPO Letter.docx commercial manufacturer to the north, Mount Holly-Huntersville Road to the east with two commercial properties beyond, Hambright Road to the south with residential and undeveloped land beyond, and undeveloped land to the west. Representative Site photos are attached to this letter. In order to investigate the potential presence of historic, cultural and/or archeological sites on the Site, H&H conducted the following: • reviewed the National Registry of Historic Places (NRHP) and the North Carolina State Historic Preservation Office (NC SHPO) geographic information system (GIS) viewer for sites located in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina; • conducted a visual survey of the Site and the surrounding area; and • reviewed the Mecklenburg County property records for the Site. National Registry of Historic Places & North Carolina State Historic Preservation Office H&H reviewed the NRHP website (http://nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com/NC/mecklenburg/state.html) and the NC SHPO GIS viewer (http://gis.ncdcr.gov/hpoweb/) to obtain information and locations of historic, cultural, and/or archeological sites on or adjacent to the subject Site. Based upon a review of the NC SHPO GIS viewer, H&H did not identify any on-Site or adjacent National Register (NR) listings. The closest NR listings are over 0.75 miles away and include the R.M. Sample House (MK1317), the Sample/Joseph House (MK1318), and the historic location of the Huntersville Prison (MK2406). Visual Survey H&H conducted a visual survey of the Site and the residence while conducting stream and wetland delineation activities. H&H observed the former location of the single-family residence in the southwestern portion of the Site. Photographs of the Site are attached. Mecklenburg County Property Record The Mecklenburg County GIS website lists the former residence as the only on-Site structure. County GIS information is attached. H&H confirmed the absence of this structure during the November 2020 Site visit. Please review the above information and provide a written response as to the potential for this proposed development to affect historic, cultural, or recorded archeological sites. If possible, please respond to this request within 30 days. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
