SUBJECT: Town of Chadbourn
I appreciate the opportunity to work so closely with you, Authur
Mouberry, and m.y staff in trying to resolve the Town of Chadbourn
situation whicl was brought to my attention today. I wish to indicate
to you the final r_esqlution so that we may proceed from this point.
After find'__ng that the non -discharge permit, 67(b), and NPDES
issues have all been resolved, I contacted Mr. Jim McNeil of Farmers
Home Administration and indicated to him that our Division was con-
strained by statute timing. He indicated that the August 1 date was
flexible and could be pushed back if the Town of Chadbourn were
aggressively trying to obtain the appropriate permit.
I contacted Mayor Leo Mercer on this date and indicated to him
that FHA was willing to extend the August 1 deadline. This action
concluded the Chadbourn involvement.
