authorization to impact 20 22 acres of jurisdictional wetlands and 175 linear feet of stream
associated with the widening of US Highway 13/158 from US 158/NC 45 near Winton to the US
Highway 13/158 split in Tar Heel Hertford and Gates Counties North Carolina State Project
No 35488 1 1, Division 1, TIP No R 2507A The purpose of this correspondence is to inform
you that by letter dated May 12, 2012, we received comments from Mr Vernon Pope regarding
concerns he has following review of the public notice on your application A copy of his letter is
enclosed In addition the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries requested that all in water
work in the Chowan River and Buckhorn Creek be performed outside of the 15 February to 30
June moratorium to minimize impacts to anadromous fish species
It is the policy of the Department of the Army to provide an applicant the opportunity to
furmsh a proposed resolution or rebuttal to all objections from government agencies and other
substantive adverse comments before a final decision is made on a proposed project In this
regard I would appreciate receiving any comments that you have on this matter If you intend to
comment please give your immediate attention to this matter so processing of your permit can be
expedited
