3 Project Description
3a Describe the existing conditions on the site and the general land use in the vicinity of the project at the time of this
application
Currently the subject culvert proposed to be extened under Highway 22 connects a portion of an Unnamed Tnb to Mill
Creek on the western side of Highway 22 to its down stream portion east of Highway 22 The stream /wetland at the
culvert is managed as road right of way for about 50 feet from the edge of pavement with the stream /wetland area
immediately west of the road right of way consisting of a forested stream channel with a wetland fringe The surrounding
land use is rural business and residence The Moore County Airport is approximatly a mile north of the project area
3b List the total estimated acreage of all existing wetlands on the property
0 08ac
3c List the total estimated linear feet of all existing streams (intermittent and perennial) on the property
40
3d Explain the purpose of the proposed project
The purpose of the project is to realign and widen Highway 22 to allow for proper safety and sight distances for
perpendicular intersections on the portion of Highway 22 near the Warrior Woods entrance road The area north of the
culvert had been realigned as part of the installation of a traffic circle near the airport The slight extension of the culvert
will allow for safe sight distances and correct lane alignements along the roadway
3e Describe the overall project in detail including the type of equipment to be used
Standard road construction equipment would be used excavators pavers and othre asphalt and road bed construction
equipment
