Enclosed is the additional information you requested.
The proposed 1~ floor master addition would encroach approximately 6 feet maximum into
the buffer zone area using an estimated 170 square foot impact
The storm water gutter system would terminate outside buffer areas. If required, we
propose we could slow the run off rate with stone or plant materials of if needed a rain garden.

Dear Mr. Feldman:
On March 9, 2007, the Division of Water Quality (DWQ) 401 Oversight/Express Permitting Unit
received your Minor Variance application dated March 5, 2007 regarding your request for a Minor
Variance from the Neuse Buffer Rules (15A NCAC 2B .0233) for the subject property. The Division of
Water Quality (DWQ) is required to prepare a "preliminary finding" /"finding of fact" as to whether the
variance request meets the requirements of I SA NCAC 02B .0233(9)(a). The DWQ may attach
conditions to a variance approval that support the purpose, spirit and intent of the riparian buffer
protection program. Conditions usually include stormwater management and buffer mitigation.
Additional information will be required before we can proceed with the review of your variance request.
Therefore, unless additional information is provided as described below, we will have to move toward
denial of your request per 1 SA NCAC 2B .0233 and will place this project on hold as incomplete until we
receive this additional information.
Additional Information Requested:
1. Site Plans
Please revise your site plan (revised plat dated July 7, 1999) to show Zones 1 and 2 of the
protected buffers.
2. Area of impact
In your application, you state that 6 feet of Zone 2 buffer will be impacted. Please revise your
plan sheet to state and show the area (in square feet) of buffer impact in Zone 2.
stormwater Management
Stormwater management will be required as a condition if you choose to proceed with the Minor
Variance. Please provide a stormwater management plan depicting how you intend to treat the
stormwater running off the proposed impervious surfaces. One option you could use, is to show
that the stormwater gutter(s) on your home will be directed out of the buffers. Please show your
stormwater management devices on your plan sheet.
