The project included onsite mitigation of 0.46 acre, but an section of that onsite mitigation will be maintained
for a relocated powerline. Approximately 4,279 sq.ft. of the onsite mitigation at Site 4 will not be reforested
due to powerline maintenance. To compensate for the lack of reforestation in the powerline maintenance
corridor, NCDOT would add an additional area to the onsite mitigation. At Site 3 of the project, NCDOT would
reforest a 6,172 sq.ft. area of previously maintained wetland within the ROW. This section is currently
covered in herbaceous vegetation and was previously maintained for the powerline prior to the powerline
relocation. This new area would be reforested according to the previously authorized reforestation plan and
added to the onsite mitigation. Monitoring shall be provided every year for 3 years post installation. All is
depicted in the attached drawings.
