Construct High Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lanes and convert existing High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lanes to High Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lanes. (17 Miles). See Figure 1 The portion of the 1 -77 corridor between 1 -277 in Charlotte, North Carolina and north to Exit 28 currently experiences congestion and future traffic forecasts /projections show the congestion worsening if no improvements are implemented. Improvements to the corridor face physical, environmental and financial constraints requiring innovative solutions.
