PROPOSED WIDENING OF DERITA ROAD (STATE ROAD 1445) IN CONCORD FROM
POPULAR TENT ROAD (S R 1394) TO CONCORD MILLS BOULEVARD (S R 2894)
TIP Project No U 4910
Cabarrus County
The city of Concord in conjunction with the North Carolina Department of
Transportation ( NCDOT) will hold a Citizens Informational Workshop on Tuesday July 19,
2011 from 4 p in until 7 p in The workshop will be held at the Concord Regional Airport
Conference Room 9000 Aviation Blvd, Concord
The purpose of this workshop is for Concord and NCDOT representatives to provide
information answer questions and accept written comments regarding this proposed project
Maps presenting the proposed project area will be on display However detailed designs have
not yet been prepared
The workshop will provide the public an opportunity to participate in the planning
process Comments and information received from the public will be taken into consideration as
work on this project progresses Citizens may drop in anytime during the workshop hours to
speak with project representatives Please note there will not be a formal presentation
The proposed project (see attached location map) will widen about 2 6 miles of Denta
Road (State Road 1445) between Concord Mills Boulevard (S R 2894) and Poplar Tent Road
(S R 1394) Concord officials propose a best fit alignment to widen this route which means the
road may be widened asymmetrically in some locations and symmetrically in others to minimize
impacts to the natural and human environments
The proposed project includes a four lane divided road with a 23 foot wide median (30
feet wide where double left turn lanes are needed) The posted speed limit would be 45 miles
per hour Landscaping, bicycle lanes, sidewalks, street lighting and potential bus stops will be
considered during project development Right of -way acquisition is scheduled to begin in
summer 2012, with construction scheduled to begin in summer 2013 However, the schedule is
subject to change
For more information on the project please contact Concord Engineering Director Sue
Hyde at 850 Warren C Coleman Boulevard P O Box 308, Concord NC 28026 by phone at
