Currituck County Wastewater Department Rod Holley, Wastewater Superintendent January 26, 2021 Subject: Notice of Violation Response Tracking No. NOV-2021-LV-0025 Permit No. WQ0023634 Waterside Villages WWTP Mr. Tankart: 444 Maple Rd. Maple NC 27956 Phone 252-232-6065 Fax 252-453-3721 Email: Rod.Holley@CurrituckCountyNC.gov In response to NOV-2021-LV-0025, the parameters of Total Nitrogen and Ammonia were above limit due to the failed Geyser Pulse pumps in Train 1 and failing Geyser Pulse pumps in Train 2. Updates to our progress and delays in manufacturing has been relayed throughout and out of our control. We have made every effort and continue to work diligently to make adjustment in the treatment process to compensate for these areas waiting for manufacturers shipment. Train 1 as of January 25, 2021 the newly designed pumps have been installed and tested. Train 1 Clarifiers have been scheduled to be cleaned and put back on-line before moving to replace the Geyser pumps in Train 2. Extensive cleaning and repair will begin once flow has been directed to Train 1 for treatment and updates of progress will be relayed. We have not been complacent or faxed on being compliant and continue to work the treatment process as it was designed with approved temporary adjustments where equipment has failed to perform. Effluent quality is expected to improve in the upcoming weeks and other equipment upgrades are being implemented to make the plant a more efficient and effective in meeting permit requirements. If allowed a little more time before assessing fines and/or penalties we will show our efforts in making these well overdo upgrades has made a great improvement in the treatment process, effluent quality and in plant compliance. Thank You, Rod Holley Wastewater Superintendent Trainee Rod. Hol ley©currituckcountync.gov Rev'd 1/25/21
