Subject: RE: Injection Permit #WI0400098 Question
Greetings Joe, and happy 20141
Thanks for the notice about the progress, of injection events at the site. While my initial thought is that the proposal is
sensible, I should review the permit file first and see if there are any concerns or not. Is the request primarily concerned
about remediation performance monitoring? One thing to consider is what value those wells could serve as data points
for compliance evaluation purposes regarding injection activities. What does the data gathered thus far indicate? If
possible, lets discuss tomorrow; I am open most of the day Thursday but out all day Friday.
Take care,

Subject: Injection Permit #WI0400098 Question
Hi Thomas, I have a question about the referenced injection permit. The permit is set up for 3 injections and says to
follow the monitoring plan in our permit application. That initial monitoring plan included 9 monitoring wells, however,
that plan was laid out for the initial broad full-scale injection. Later this year we will perform our 3'd injection under the
permit, and our area of treatment has shrunk significantly as the site is getting remediated. Therefore, we now have
certain monitoring wells listed in our permit application that are in areas that will not be injection in during the third
event and therefore will not be affected by the injection. Considering this, we are not planning to include those certain
monitoring wells in the next injection event monitoring program, but I did want to run it past you to ensure we aren't
violating our permit by doing so.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks Thomas,

Yes, as we discussed MW-132S, MW-132D, MW-133S, and MW-133D will continue to be sampled annually as part of our
NCDENR IHSB Superfund Program requirements.
Thanks Thomas.

Joe, as discussed, I think it is fine for the specified wells to be omitted from the short-term performance monitoring of
the upcoming injection event. MW-132S, MW-132D, MW-133S, and MW-133D should continue to be sampled over the
long term in such a way that effects from the injection event have time to travel and be detected in those wells. Let me
know if you need anything else or if we need to discuss further.
Take care,
-Thomas.

Subject: RE: Injection Permit #WI0400098 Question
Thomas, per our phone discussion a few minutes ago, the 4 wells which will be well outside the radius of influence of
and unaffected by the next polish injection include MW-132S, MW-132D, MW-133S, and MW-133D. The other five
monitoring wells listed in our permit application (MW-112, MW-129, MW-134S, MW-134D, and MW-135) are within or
near the radius of influence of the upcoming polish injection and therefore will be sampled as part of the permit
monitoring.
Joe
