Pigg for a domestic wastewater discharge from the subject single family residence has expired. The Surface Water Protection Section requests that you contact our staff to work toward acquiring the necessary permitting, or if a change in property ownership has occurred. Initially, all active sites must be properly permitted, and then adhere to the appropriate General Permit conditions which became effective on August 1, 2002 and will expire on July 31, 2007. The current permit appears adequate for the size and type of facility and the waste stream being treated. The current permit is for a single family residence and does not require effluent self monitoring. FACILITY SITE REVIEW: The 450 GPD facility consists of a 1500 gallon septic tank:, a 1000 gallon pump tank, subsurface sand filter, effluent tablet chlorinator, chlorine contact chamber and cascade reaeration. The facility discharges to an unnamed tributary to Irvins Greek which is classified as class "C" waters in the Catawba River Basin. All of the existing components of the facility were in service and appeared to be operating properly at the time of the inspection._ EFFLUENT/RECEIVING WATERS. - The effluent was clear at the time of the inspection. Grab samples of the effluent were collected during the inspection. The samples were analyzed by the Mecklenburg county Environmental Protection and Health Department Laboratories. Grab sample field measurements for Dissolved Oxygen, Temperature and Total Residual Chlorine were conducted on site during the inspection. Results of all sample analysis are contained in this report and show compliance with permiteffluent limits at the time of sampling except for the ,;following: 1. The Fecal Coliform exceeded weekly average permit effluent limits. OPERATIONS INTE C : The Permitte should check the chlorinator as often as necessary to ensure that there is an ample supply of chlorine' tablets and that the tablets are in contact with the effluent.
