Hello Ian,
We had anticipated performing revisions for this project by now, but due to delays beyond our control, we
would like to request an extension for another 90 days to about September 1, 2011, for the Forest Hills project DWQ 11-
0072, in the City of Fayetteville, NC, currently on hold.
The reason for the delay is that the original design exceeded the allowable budget due to complications at the site. The
modified plan is an environmentally improved solution by removing and daylighting a portion of the proposed culvert
upgrade by replacing it with a restored length of stream. This requires the purchase of an adjacent lot, which the City
tried to negotiate, but was unable to reach a fair settlement with the owner. The next step was to obtain approval by
City Council to proceed with condemnation. The authorization to proceed from Council was issued on April 26, 2011.
The condemnation process of the adjacent lot was begun immediately and is currently in the 30 day notification of the
condemnation period process.
The City has already submitted a review fee for this project of $570 to NC DENR and would prefer not to have to submit
that fee again for the same project as funds are tight. We appreciate your cooperation and patience in this matter.
