Dear Mr. Selzer:
On August 16, 2011, I inspected the construction work for the new bridge over Mirror Lake on NCSR 1551
(Mirror Lake Road) in Macon County. Construction work includes drilling piers for the new bridge. Sediment
and erosion control structures appear to be working properly.
Please ensure that all sediment and erosion control structures are maintained and that seeding and mulching are
performed as needed to protect State surface waters. A copy of the inspection report is attached to this letter.

Additional comments:
Work is underway on the project with drilling shafts in preparation for bridge construction.
A small amount of oil was observed behind the turbidity curtain on the downstream side. The inspector was
asked to place absorbent pads in the water to remove the oil.
Sediment and erosion control structures appear to be working properly.
Continue to maintain erosion control devices and continue with seeding, matting and mulching as required to
protect State surface waters.
