As we discussed, you had some questions regarding the rain garden. A rain garden is also called a Bioretention area, which is considered to be an engineered stormwater control. We encourage you to install a Bioretention area as they are great systems to treat runoff, however there are certain requirements that they come with. 1. The first item in the RFMI refers to the location of the Bioretention area. Stormwater controls should be placed outside of the buffer, and in the diagram you submitted, it appears that it is in Zone 2 of the buffer. When you resubmit your plans, please try to locate the Bioretention area outside of the buffer. If this is not possible and it must be placed within the buffer, mitigation will be required (as indicated in #% of the RFMI). 2. The second item in the RFMI refers to supplement forms for the Bioretention area. Again, because it is an engineered stormwater control, it must be designed correct. This is especially true if you are placing it in the protected buffer. 3. The third item refers to scale - we discussed this and you indicated that you could submit full plan sheets with a scale of no smaller than 1" = 50'. Please ensure that these plans also indicated the topographic contours. 4. The forth item refers to the walk labeled as #2. We see the walk labeled as #1 that goes directly down to the lake shore. It is not clear what impact #2 is for, and what the justification is for this impact. Please either remove this impact from your application or submit further justification for these impacts. 5. The fifth item refers to mitigation, which was discussed above. 6. The sixth item refers to submitting electronic files. As we discussed on the phone, if you are unable to make TIFF files, please submit the plans as a pdf. Hopefully this helps explain things a little more. Amy, please correct anything or add anything that I may have forgotten.
