Attachments: image001.jpg ~ ,. Chris, Yes I agree this change can be done without a permit modification since treatment of the stormwater itself isn't being changed. I'll add this to our file and that will be fine. Thanks, rob From: Murray, Christopher A Sent: Friday, January 15, 2010 10:23 AM To: Ridings, Rob Cc: Davis, Brian D; Hinnant, Chadwick D Subject: Proposed construction reyision on U-4012 in Durham County Reference: 1. Widening of US 15-501 from north of SR 2994 (Mt. Moriah Road) to south of Garrett Road (SR 116) in Durham Co. TIP No. U-4012 2. DWQ Project No. 20042000 =~.' Rob, , A construction issue that involves stormwater treatment has recently become evident on this project. The current, permitted design involves the movement of stormwater runoff into median and shoulder boxes that then is transferred into a 6.0 ft x 6.0 ft PFSH near 70+50 Rt. There has been some issue with the grade of boxes in the median that will affect the ability to construct the project according to this design. The Department proposes to'construct the following: -Delete the 15 inch median pipe structure from 76+60 to 77+g0 -L- -Delete the median box at 77+90 -L- -Add anew median box, 24 inch pipe structure and shoulder box at 78+10 Lt -L- -Change the pipe size of the 15 inch shoulder pipe structure and shoulder pipe structure to 24 inch pipe structures from 78+10 to 78+66 Lt -L-. -Change the size of the receiving 3.0 ft x 3.0 ft PFSH to a G.0 ft x 6.0 ft PFSH a; 78+6G Lt -L-. Note that this does not affect the necessary treatment of stormwater runoff on the project. It only serves to change the location of the outfall into a PFSH that has been appropriately increased in size. The changes are depicted below: L . ~ I w.~ ` ~r~yf '^ ~ x } a ~ ! ~ ~ ~ 'yrY ~: ~ ~1 ~ 'i t ~.) ~R _.R ' ` ` ~~~ K u ' _ - a 4 7~7F~}~! ° ~. \F a~ yY~y~ 1 ' ~ i i, a ~ ,. 7 y4Y`r~e Y `yr .-~ .. ~'I ¢. 1 '.~ r lxnry~t°'~ n ~~ c f '~'~ y,~t~Y 4v i ~ 7„ R ,r ~ +,~ . ~r , i ri ~' ~ ~ ~ ~ YL iYt3}yi"t' d'r ~, ~ ~ Fir ~rj` }~~~ F.1 :r g ~M .bS:":~ L r•. This runoff will now be deposited into an upsized PFSH that has been appropriately sized by the NCDOT Hydro unit. I suggest that this slight construction revision can be approved without modification of the existing Section 401 WOC. Please review this info and advise if you agree.with my assessment.
