NOTICE OF A CITIZENS INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR THE
PROPOSED REPLACEMENT OF BRIDGE NUMBER 27
OVER ROCKY CREEK ON HIGHWAY US 64
TIP Project No. B-5010 WBS NO. 41536. 1.1 Transylvania County
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold the above
Citizens Informational Workshop on July 12, 2011, between the hours of 5:30 pm and
7:30 pm at Sapphire-Whitewater Community Center, 13 Walter McNeely Road, Sapphire,
28774.
The purpose of this workshop is for NCDOT representatives to provide
information, answer questions, and accept written comments regarding this project. Maps
denoting the proposed project area will be displayed. The workshop provides the public
an opportunity to participate in the planning process. Comments and information received
from the public will be taken into consideration as work on this project progresses.
Citizens may drop in anytime during the workshop hours. Please note: there will not be a
formal presentation.
This project proposes to replace Bridge Number 27 on US 64 near Sapphire Lakes
Country Club with a culvert. The proposed culvert will have two lanes of traffic, one
travel lane in each direction. During construction, traffic will be maintained on a
temporary structure southwest of the existing structure. Due to the environmentally
sensitive area, NCDOT will plan accordingly.
