To complete this work, for the effluent valves, the influent flow coming into the plant, will be stored in the EQ basin, then pumped back into plant. The following is from Special Provisions included in the contract: B. Because the WWTP filters are critical operating facilities for the WWTP, the WWTP will have to take the filters out of service for a period not to exceed seven (7) hours for the removal and installation of the four (4) effluent valves. The contractor shall complete all work required for replacement of the effluent valves during the maximum seven (7) hour shut down period. Two of the effluent valves can be done on one day, then the other two can be done at a later date scheduled, once contractor has submitted work plan, City may consider with advanced approval. Once the new effluent valves are installed, the operators can be installed. The backwash valves can be completed one (1) at a time for a period not to exceed four (4) hours per installation of each backwash valve while the filters are in operation. The contractor shall submit a detailed work sequence, and the owner shall determine the date for which the work can proceed (weather forecasts will be utilized to help determine). C. Once all new valve equipment is on -site and the contractor has submitted an acceptable work sequence/plan, the City will issue a notice of work area availability to the Contractor for work to be done. D. The contractor shall make all efforts in advance planning and work preparation to ensure the downtime is limited to this seven (7) hour time for all work associated with filter 91-4 effluent valves.
