The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has Bridge No. 38 currently under contract for replacement. Recent pre-construction plan reviews revealed a couple of discrepancies between the final plan sheet and the buffer drawing submitted within the 11/30/07 permit application. Discrepancy # 1: On the South side of the roadway and west of the creek, NCDOT was unable to acquire the proposed Right-of-Way (ROW) of 80ft (I Oft additional on that side) as shown on the permit drawing. Therefore existing ROW will be maintained along this side of the road, thereby eliminating 300 SF of BZ 1 impacts and 200 SF of BZ 2 impacts previously permitted. J R. aI Discrepancy # 2: On the North side of the roadway and east of the creek, additional ROW is necessary in order to facilitate the construction of the end bent and associated embankment. This ROW revision would require additional buffer impacts of 130 SF in BZ 1 and 200 SF in BZ 2. These specific impacts were not previously reported or permitted. Considering both discrepancies there is 170 SF surplus of eliminated buffer impacts beyond the additional impacts in BZ 1. In BZ 2 there is balance between the eliminated buffer impacts and the additional impacts. Since there is an overall net loss of impacts, we are not requesting a buffer authorization modification. However we are providing a copy of the final plan sheet for your files, so that the actual limits to the buffer impacts are clear.
