Subject: Shelter Creek Quarry Low Value Wetlands

At this time, the Shelter Creek Quarry has elected not to pursue having the Corps resign the
jurisdictional boundary map for the site. This was discussed as an option, during our on-site meeting
yesterday. With that said, in order to meet the DWQ's mitigation requirements outlined in 15A NCAC
02H .0506(h)(6), the Quarry proposes to mitigate, at a 1:1 mitigation-to-impact ratio, for the 2.7 acres
of low value wetlands. The mitigation, in the form of creation, is proposed to take place on the
Croomsbridge Road site. A revised copy of the Cursory Wetland Determination and Proposed
Mitigation Map will be furnished to your offices in the very near future.
It is our hope that this will resolve any outstanding concerns the agencies may have with the project.
