The 'referenced facility. has operated in compliance with the existing permit and requests renewal of that permit. Changes since issuance of last permit: Since the last permit issuance, the facility's :cooling system discharge has been re=routed so that .it no longer. passes (through the wastewater treatment plant. The :cooling system. discharge, which is covered under, a separate discharge., permit and .requires no treatment, was previously routed through the wastewater treatment plant for convenience. During 2012, the cooling system discharge was rerouted to keep the flows separated and avoid unnecessarily treating water that does not need- treatment. Sludge Management Plan:. The . referenced wastewater treatment plant is relatively . small. Sludge generation is minimal. When needed, sludge is pumped out by: contract 'haule"rs who deliver the sludge to appropriate wastewater treatment facilities. Eplin Subject: Shurtape - NPDES Permit NCO072664 - Renewal Charles, Good morning. This email is a follow up to our telephone conversation on 20 February 2014 concerning the renewal of the subject permit. The general conditions in the permit require the annual submission of a wastewater performance report by 1 March of each year. As the Stony Point facility discharges less than 200,000 GPD it is my understanding from the Regional Office staff that this provision is not applicable to the facility. In our conversation you agreed that it was not applicable and would add a special condition in the - permit specifically noting the provision in the General Conditions is not applicable. I would respectfully request that you include this special condition in the permit when it is renewed. I have spoken with Wes Bell in the Mooresville Regional office regarding this requirement. He concurred the provision was not applicable. Please send a revised draft copy of the proposed renewal for review prior to issuance. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact me. Thank you for your kind consideration of this request. Sincerely, Mark E. Hawes, P.E. Director of Environment & Safety Shurtape Technologies, LLC.
