This project affects 120 feet of shoreline on a point of Mountain Island
Lake
that is being eroded and undermined by waves. The contractor, Lyfe
Marine, will will remove debris, several stumps and two damaged pine
trees; shape the bank, install Geo-technical fabric and install Class "B" rip
rap.
Please give a couple of dates you are available for a meeting.

on Mount Holly-Huntersville Road. At second light, turn left on Overlook
Mountain Drive. At the end of the 1.7 mile road, 12757 Overlook
Mountain drive directly ahead in the cul de sac.

avoided, or why it is necessary):
This project affects 120 feet of shoreline on a point of Mountain Island
Lake where Nance Cove meets the main lake that is being eroded and
undermined by wave action from boats and wind from two directions.
The shoreline of opposing banks is hardened. Of the 120 feet, 77 feet us
classified as "future residential" with the remaining classified as "impact
minimization zone." The contractor, Lyfe Marine, will remove debris, a
large stump and four pine trees that have been undermined by erosion;
shape the bank, install Geo-technical fabric and install Class `B" rip

The vegetation in the project zone is grasses, honeysuckle, briers and a
few small oaks and sweetgum trees. The project will displace four mature
pine trees that have been undermined by the wave action. The trees are
marked in the attached photographs. Note: several mature white oak trees
have fallen in the water near the project area. If approved, efforts will be
made to place the pines removed by this project in the water with the
white oaks to increase structure for wildlife.
