Patrol/Investigations:
• A subject reported on November 9th they were the victim of Fraud/ Identity Theft in the 1100 block of
North Lake Park Boulevard, CB. The case is under further investigation.
• A subject reported on November 111h they were the victim of Fraud/Forgery and Uttering in the 900
block of Searidge Lane, CB. The case is under further investigation.
• A subject reported on November 12th they were the victim of Simple assault in the 100 block of Carolina
Beach Avenue North, CB. The case is closed by arrest.
• A subject reported on November 121h they were the victim of Larceny in the 100 block of Greenville
Avenue, CB. The case is under further investigation.
• A subject reported on November 13th they were the victim of Aggravated Assault in the 200 block of
North Seventh Street, CB. The case is under further investigation.

Battery.

PARKS AND RECREATION
• The additional coir(coconut fiber matting) has been installed on the south side of the banks of Lake Park.
We still have one stump to remove and then we will be set for the community planting days on December
411 and December 5th

• Staff has been working this week on decorating the front of the Recreation Center for the holiday season.
We also have been busy assigning coves at the boardwalk and parking meters to decorate. Thank you
to all who have signed up to decorate Carolina Beach for the holidays!
• The interpretive signs for Ryder Lewis Jr. Park have arrived! The committee will be reviewing the signs
for accuracy and will plan an installation date soon.
• Due to Covid, we had to cancel our youth basketball league since it is held indoors. However, we are
exploring offering a youth flag football league starting in February. Additional details regarding the
program will be release in December.
• A meeting was held at Lake Park with Dr. Bill Hunt, NC State Professor, regarding creative solutions and
funding for stormwater solutions. In the future, there may be an opportunity for the CB Lake to be a
research center that could potentially provide funding for stormwater and park improvement projects. It
was an initial meeting, but very informative.
• The Recreation Center opening hours have changed from 8:00 AM to 7:00 AM. The new hours are 7:00
AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, and closed on Sunday. We
also have updated our gymnasium schedule at the Recreation Center. We are offering open gym to
younger age groups. The schedule is below:

Code Enforcement:
• There were two cases of junk vehicles this week, one on Spartanburg, and the other on Risley Rd.
• A report of persons placing objects (wooden and metal stakes) in the Town ROW on Harper Ave.; this
was an effort to keep people from parking there. Contact was made with homeowner all material were
removed.

OPERATIONS
WWTP:
• Staff performed all operational/maintenance tasks and laboratory analyses as necessary to maintain
compliance with all applicable permits.
Utility Staff:
• Locates, work orders and tap verifications, clearing permits.
• Continuous maintenance of existing road cuts.
• Water meter cut on, off and verifications.
• Continuous maintenance of Port A Johns.
• Repair water leaks.

W/S Administration/Billing/Customer Service:

Public Works:
• Holiday Lighting: Staff has been diligently working to install all the holiday lighting fixtures throughout
Town. Ornaments along Lake Park Boulevard were hung up this week and contactor is working to
resolve the problematic areas. The goal is to have all the lighting in place and operating by November
231 and prior to the Thanksgiving Holiday.
• Dow Road Speed Indicators: Staff has ironed out the specifics and submitted the encroachment
agreement for the solar powered speed signs that will be installed in proximity to the Island Greenway
and Mike Chappell Park on Dow Road. Everything is ready to go upon receipt of the encroachment
agreement.
• Boardwalk Maintenance: Staff is working to resolve issues in the restroom facilities as well as board
replacement along wooden walkway, in preparation for the scheduled staining of the wooden
surfaces. Washing and staining of all benches and swings is scheduled for the forthcoming few weeks.
• Island Greenway Safety: Staff is working on development of improved signage that accents the need
for biker and pedestrians to STOP at all intersections before crossing.
Environmental:
Beach Front
• Removed deceased birds
• Removed lifeguard stand #32 due to the beach erosion
Freeman Park
• Repaired poles and rope
• Repairing trash pods
Boardwalk
• Removed sand from the beach accesses
Signage
• Continuing to straighten signs around town
• Cleaned up around Bridge Barrier storage area
• Cleaned up around the Dow Rd. water tower
Facilities
• Repaired the split rail fence at the Driftwood access parking lot
Streets
• Repaired potholes throughout town
• Cleared the line of sight at the corner of Birmingham and S. 61"

• Completed placing Christmas lights around the Lake and Boardwalk
Storm water:
• Vactored 17 catch basins, cleaned 660' of stormwater lines, maintenance of 1 French drain, and
remove 60 yards of debris from stormwater systems
