DWQ Project 08-0396
TIP No. A-001 I BB
Clay County
Dear Mr. Setzer:
Dee Freeman
Secretary
On August 11, 2010, 1 inspected the construction work on US Highway 64 in Clay County and the project
appears to be in compliance with the requirements of the 401 Certification. Construction work consists of
heavy grading, pipe installation and paving. The erosion and sedimentation control structures, vegetative
covering, and matting appear to be working properly. There are some areas where sediment control structures
need cleaning and seeding and mulching should be conducted.
Please continue to ensure that all sediment and erosion control structures are maintained and that seeding and
mulching are performed as needed to protect downstream waters. A copy of the inspection report is attached
to this letter.
If you have questions, please call me at 828-296-4500.

Reviewed project with DOT staff. Grading and pipe work is continuing. Paving has started on the west end of
the project. Sediment and erosion control structures appear to be working properly; however, some basins and
sediment control structures are need of cleaning. Seed and/or matt areas that are needed.
Continue to maintain erosion control devices and continue with seeding and matting as required to protect State
surface waters.
