Department of Transportation 253 Webster Road Sylva, North Carolina 28779 Dear Mr. Setzer: Subject: Inspection-US Highway 64 DWQ Project 08-0396 TIP No. A-001 1 BB Clay County Dee Freeman Secretary On July 7, 2010, 1 inspected the construction work on US Highway 64 in Clay County and the project appears to be in compliance with the requirements of the 401 Certification. Construction work consists of heavy grading, pipe installation and paving. The erosion and sedimentation control structures, vegetative covering, and matting appear to be working properly; however, some cleaning of sediment and erosion control structures, and seeding and mulching are needed. Please continue to ensure that all sediment and erosion control structures are maintained and that seeding and mulching are perfonned as needed to protect downstream waters. Grading and pipe work is continuing. Paving has started on the west end of the project. Sediment and erosion control structures appear to be working properly; however, some basins and sediment control structures are need of cleaning. Seed and/or matt areas that are needed.
