Replace a washed out culvert with a bridge.This site was washed out by an Aug.31st rain event and had also been washed out previously by Hurricane Matthew4 years earlier.

Plan is to remove pipe and stabilize channel as needed,and then to construct a single span 70 ft bridge over Arters Branch.Typical Road building equipment will be used.

This project involves daylighting 50 ft of stream and building a single span bridge with no elements in the water.110 ft of stream was restored by
removing sand and stone impounding water in the creek and rebuilding and stabilizing the banks with stone.

All construction equipment will be staged and operated from upland areas.DOT will also install silt fencing to protect the streams and wetlands

An(PACE species list is attached.IPAC lists Red-cockaded Woodpecker(Picoides borealis),Neuse River Waterdog(Necturus lewisi),Carolina
Madtom(Noturus furiosus),Atlantic Pigtoe(Fusconaia masoni),and Dwarf Wedgemussel(Alasmidonta heterodon)as potentially occurring within the
study area.
For RCW,field surveys revealed marginal foraging habitat in the study area,but no nesting habitat was identified in the project area or within a mile of
the project study area.Also,NHP records review indicates no documented nest sites within 1 mile of the study project study area.
For all the other species listed there is a PBO in place which leads to a biological conclusion MA-NLTAA.
