Piedmont Natural Gas needs to replace a damaged segment of 12-inch
diameter Line 5 natural gas pipeline with a new segment that will be
installed by horizontal directional drill (HDD) within their existing 50-foot
wide easement.
This site is located between Black Creek Court and Rose Hill Road in
Fayetteville, Cumberland County. The segment of pipe proposed for
replacement is located beneath a pond and adjacent wetland area. The
pond was likely constructed at the headwaters of an unnamed tributary to
Rose Lake.
The project may require pre -construction written approval under
Nationwide Permit No. 12 and General Water Quality Certification No. 4133.
