Manuel, Assistant Regional Supervisor Water Quality Regional Operations Section Raleigh Regional Office Division of Water Resources, NCDEQ Re: NOV 2020-LV 0758 Dear Ms. Manuel, Boa a3 33 24C Dept of Environmeittu I Q11illir OCT 2 6 2020 Raleigh Regiolttl office October 20, 2020 NC Dept Of Environmental Quail,% OCT 2 6 2020 Raleigh Regional 01,1 icc I'm writing in response to the NOV letter received on October 20, 2020. We are currently operating the WWTP with only one brush rotor in the oxidation ditch. Because of the extreme heat during the month of August we had difficulty keeping the dissolved oxygen level above 2.0 ppm which is needed for the nitrification process to meet our limits. The Town has spent approximately $60,000.00 repairing and replacing equipment since taking over the operation of the plant on February 1, 2020. Because of the lost revenue the town has suffered due to Covid-19 the town has been somewhat hindered in repairing everything at the plant and we have been trying to target and prioritize our efforts over the last six months. Plans are currently in place and approved by the Town Board to pull the broken brush rotor and have it repaired and put back in operation within the next 60 days. The WWTP was in full compliance for the month of September and as of the date of this letter we have not exceeded any limits in October. Sincerely, Eddie ax on Mayor Town of Scotland Neck
