Soran - Pond Dredging
DWQ Project # 10-0034
Macon County
Response deadline: March 8, 2010
Dear Mr. Soran:
The Division of Water Quality (DWQ) has performed a preliminary review of a 401 Water Quality Certification
application submitted for the above referenced property. Additional information will be required in order to
complete the review process.
Please provide the following information so that we may continue to review your project.
Additional Information Requested:
1. According to your application, the dewatering facility has been designed to utilize one (1) basin.
Condition 16 of General Water Quality Certification 3700 (GC 3700), which must accompany
the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nationwide Permit 16, requires hydraulic dredging projects in
mountain lakes to utilize a two-basin design.
Please modify your dewatering facility design to match Condition 16 or explain how your project
will meet the water-quality protection goals set forth by said condition and not violate water
quality standards.
2. Section B. 6 Future Project Plans of your application indicated that this is not a phased project
and Section F. 3. Cumulative Impacts of your application indicated this project will not result in
additional development.
Please confirm that additional development of the property is not being planned that would
require additional impacts to waters or stormwater management planning.
