The purpose of this correspondence is to inform you that the City of Hickory is formally
submitting our Draft Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP). This submittal is in response
to the letter we received dated April 15, 2020. The letter stated our previous Draft SWMP
was insufficient to comply with state and federal requirements for the Municipal Separate
Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permitting program. The Draft was deemed an insufficient
response to the Notice of Violation (NOV) that DEQ issued to the City of Hickory on April
24, 2019.
The City of Hickory's Stormwater/Engineering department has addressed the issues as
outlined in the NCS000426 Hickory DEQ SWMP Comment Letter. The Draft SWMP's
purpose is to resolve the subject NOV. The City of Hickory's Stormwater program's goal
is to provide a compliant SWMP that meets and/or exceeds the requirements that are
set forth by NCDEQ.
