Subject: RE: [External] Request for Minor Modification to Permit for Oak Island Renourishment
Project - 2020/2021
Hey Heather,
I hope you had a nice time up in the mountains, which was good timing. Based on review of this proposal, along with
review of the 401 WQC #2018-1344v1 and v2 issued for this project, this minor modification request to State Permit No.
31-20 dated received on June 15, 2020 will not require written approval from the DWR.
Thanks,

Subject: FW: [External] Request for Minor Modification to Permit for Oak Island Renourishment Project - 2020/2021
Hi everyone,
Please see Moffatt & Nichol's request, on behalf of the Town of Oak Island, to remove the dredge buffer from the
borrow area for CAMA/D&F permit #31-20 (DWR Project # 2018-1344 v2), provided they are able to
successfully locate and
remove what is believed to be marine debris in the form of buried wire or cable. Please review the attached request and
let me know if you have any questions or concerns by June 29, if possible.
Thanks!
Heather

Hi Heather and Ronnie — I hope this finds you doing well!
Please find attached a request to modify the NC Division of Water Resources WQC 004215, CAMA Permit No. 31-20, and
the USACE Permit No. SAW-2018-02230 to remove the 50-foot buffer associated with the magnetometer anomaly
within the Jay Bird Shoals Borrow Area. As described in the October 2019 permit application and supplemental
archaeology report, Tidewater Atlantic Research identified this anomaly as marine debris.
This request is based on additional evaluation and consideration of maintaining the integrity of the shoal system while
allowing the Contractor to best utilize its equipment and resources for effective dredging in the upcoming construction
window.
I am happy to schedule a call to further discuss this request. A $100 check will be sent to NCDCM Wilmington next week
as required for minor modification requests.
Thank you for your consideration,
Dawn
