JOB SITE CONDITIONS DURING THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT, INCLUDING
SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS AND PROPERTY AND THAT THIS REQUIREMENT SHALL APPLY
CONTINUOUSLY AND NOT BE LIMITED TO NORMAL WORKING HOURS AND THAT THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL DEFEND, INDEMNIFY, AND HOLD THE OWNER AND THE ENGINEER HARMLESS FROM ANY AND
ALL LIABILITY, REAL OR ALLEGED IN CONNECTION WITH PERFORMANCE OF WORK ON THIS
PROJECT, EXCEPTING FOR LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE SOLE NEGLIGENCE OF THE. OWNER OR
THE ENGINEER.
5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THAT ALL REQUIRED PERMITS AND APPROVALS HAVE BEEN
OBTAINED FROM THE APPROPRIATE AUTHORITIES BEFORE BEGINNING
WORK ON THE PROJECT.

SPOIL DISPOSAL. AN EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLAN REQUIRED FOR ANY OFF -SITE BORROW
OR WASTE AREA ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SITE WILL BE CONSIDERED THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
PERSON(S) FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LAND DISTURBING ACTIVITY. THE DELEGATION OF THIS

CLEARING AND GRADING NOTES
1. GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING THE EROSION CONTROL DEVICES.
2. CLEARING LIMITS SHALL BE CLEARLY DEFINED PRIOR TO BEGINNING CLEARING OPERATIONS. CLEARING DEBRIS
SHALL BE PROPERLY DISPOSED OF OFFSITE IN A PERMITTED LANDFILL FACILITY. TREES OUTSIDE OF THE CLEARING
LIMITS SHALL BE PROTECTED DURING CONSTRUCTION.
3, NO CLEARING OR GRADING WORK SHALL COMMENCE UNTIL SEDIMENTATION AND EROSION CONTROL APPROVAL
AND GRADING PERMIT HAS BEEN ISSUED AND ALL SEDIMENTATION AND EROSION CONTROL MEASURES FOR THE
AREA TO BE DISTURBED ARE IN PLACE.
4. ALL CONSTRUCTION FOR EROSION CONTROL STRUCTURES SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH NCDENR EROSION AND
SEDIMENT CONTROL PLANNING AND DESIGN MANUAL.
5. GENERAL CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL EROSION CONTROL PRACTICES REQUIRED TO MINIMIZE EFFECTS
ON ADJACENT PROPERTIES DURING CONSTRUCTION. EROSION CONTROL PRACTICES SHALL BE CONTINUED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE DETAILS AND ARE TO BE MAINTAINED UNTIL CONTRIBUTING AREAS ARE STABILIZED.
6. GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FOLLOWING THE EROSION CONTROL SEQUENCE.
7, PRIOR TO PLACING FILL, ALL FILL AREAS SHALL BE STRIPPED AS RECOMMENDED BY THE GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER
TO REMOVE TOPSOIL, STUMPS, ROOTS, ORGANICS AND OTHER UNSUITABLE MATERIAL. STRIPPINGS SHALL BE
STOCKPILED AS SHOWN ON THE PLAN STRIPPINGS MAY BE USED FOR BERMING AS REQUIRED BY OWNER. CLEAN
TOPSOIL FREE OF HEAVY VEGETATION SHALL BE USED AS BACKFILL FOR CURB AND IN LANDSCAPE AREAS.
8. STRUCTURAL FILL FOR PAVED AND BUILDING AREAS SHALL BE COMPACTED TO 95% OF THE STANDARD PROCTOR
MAXIMUM DRY DENSITY (ASTM D-698), EXCEPT THE UPPER 12" SHALL BE COMPACTED TO 98% PROCTOR MAXIMUM DRY
DENSITY, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED ON THE PLANS, IN THE SPECIFICATIONS, OR GEOTECHNICAL REPORT.
COMPACTION TESTS IN PAVED AREAS SHALL BE TAKEN TO SUBBASE AND A MINIMUM OF 10 FEET BEYOND THE LIMITS
OF PAVED AREAS AND BUILDING AREAS.
6. BEGIN NORTH WALL CONSTRUCTION SO OFFSITE WATER CAN BE DIVERTED AROUND FUTURE SKIMMER BASIN.
7. ONCE WALL IS COMPLETED AND OFFSITE WATER IS SUCCESSFULLY DIVERTED, CONSTRUCT SKIMMER BASIN AND
ASSOCIATIVE DIVERSION BERMS.
8. BRING FUTURE DRIVEWAY ENTRANCE FROM GUMTREE ROAD TO GRADE AND INSTALL CONSTRUCTION ENTRANCE.
ENSURE STORM PIPE FROM D14 TO CIS HAS ENOUGH COVER TO WITHSTAND CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC.
9. AFTER ALL DEMOLITION PERMITS ARE ON HAND, BEGIN DEMOLITION AS SHOWN ON SHEET D-1.
10. AFTER DEMOLITION IS COMPLETE, BEGIN ROUGH GRADING OF SITE. INSTALL SILT FENCE AND SILT SENCE
OUTLETS ON DOWNSTREAM SIDE OF DIVERSION BERMS.
11. CONSTRUCT STORM DRAINAGE AND UTILITIES AS GRADE BECOMES AVAILABLE. PROVIDE CONDUIT SLEEVES FOR
FUTURE ELECTRIC AND IRRIGATION CONNECTIONS. REFER TO IRRIGATION AND ELECTRICAL PLANS. DETENTION
POND AND GAS TANKS TO BE INSTALLED AFTER SKIMMER BASIN IS REMOVED. INSTALL INLET PROTECTION AS

CONSTRUCTION. TESTING WILL BE THE OWNER'S RESPONSIBILITY.
III BACKFILL ADJACENT TO STRUCTURES
BACKFILL ADJACENT TO STRUCTURES SHALL BE OF THE TYPE AND
QUALITY CONFORMING TO THAT SPECIFIED FOR THE ADJOINING FILL MATERIAL.
THE FILL SHALL BE PLACED IN HORIZONTAL LAYERS AT A THICKNESS THAT IS
COMPATIBLE WITH THE COMPACTION EQUIPMENT BEING USED TO ACHIEVE
THE SPECIFIED COMPACTION. AT NO TIME DURING THE
BACKFILLING OPERATION SHALL DRIVEN EQUIPMENT BE ALLOWED TO OPERATE
CLOSER THAN FOUR FEET, MEASURED HORIZONTAL, TO ANY PART OF A

VII CARE OF WATER DURING CONSTRUCTION
ALL WORK ON THE PERMANENT STRUCTURES SHALL BE CARRIED OUT IN
AREAS FREE FROM WATER. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONSTRUCT AND
MAINTAIN ALL TEMPORARY DIKES, LEVEES, COFFER DAMS, DRAINAGE
CHANNELS, AND DRAINAGE DIVERSIONS NECESSARY TO PROTECT THE AREAS
TO BE OCCUPIED BY THE PERMANENT WORKS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
ALSO FURNISH, INSTALL, OPERATE AND MAINTAIN ALL NECESSARY PUMPING
AND OTHER EQUIPMENT REQUIRED FOR REMOVAL OF WATER FROM THE
VARIOUS PARTS OF THE WORK AND FOR MAINTAINING THE EXCAVATIONS,
FOUNDATION, AND OTHER PARTS OF THE WORK FREE FROM WATER AS
REQUIRED OR DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER FOR CONSTRUCTING EACH
PART OF THE WORK, AFTER HAVING SERVED THEIR PURPOSE, ALL
TEMPORARY PROTECTIVE WORKS SHALL BE REMOVED OR LEVELED AND
GRADED TO THE EXTENT REQUIRED TO PREVENT OBSTRUCTION IN ANY
DEGREE WHATSOEVER OF THE FLOW OF WATER TO THE SPILLWAY OR

MANNER AND TO THE EXTENT THAT WILL MAINTAIN STABILITY OF THE
EXCAVATED SLOPES AND BOTTOM OF REQUIRED EXCAVATIONS AND WILL
