Sewer Extension
Robeson County
The Permits and Engineering Unit has completed a preliminary engineering review of the subject
application. The following items must be addressed before we can complete our review:
1) The Division requires that a separate application be submitted for the private portion of the
subject sewer system. Please revise page 3 of the current application to eliminate the 6 inch
private pipe and forward 3 sealed and signed copies of page 3 to my attention.
2) The Division prefers that when calculating the estimated average daily flow from a commercial
building that a value of 25 GPD per employee be used for domestic flows. In addition to this
value, an estimate of the average daily flow of industrial wastewater (generated from any
process or manufacturing which may occur) is required. To assist the Division in its review,
please define "non -warehouse facilities" and "warehouse facilities" and describe the types of
activities which are proposed to occur in each. If the estimated flow listed on page 2 of the
application changes, please forward 3 sealed and signed copies of the revised page to my
attention.
3) Your application and plans indicate 429 linear feet of sewer pipe between manhole 2 and
manhole 7. Please submit written documentation to the Permits and Engineering Unit which
details the method of cleaning pipe lengths greater than 425 feet and the type of equipment to be
used. The letter should be signed by a responsible party of the City of Lumberton This letter
will be put on file and will be referred to whenever the City of Lumberton submits applications
for sewer extensions with distances greater than 425 feet between manholes.
4) Please recheck your calculation of total linear footage of 8 inch sewer line. If the value shown
in section 4, number 3 (page 3) of your application is incorrect, please revise this page of your
application and forward 3 signed and sealed copies to my attention.
5) So the Division can complete its review, please provide the elevation of the top of the wet well.

6) Please provide a letter from the City of Lumberton which documents the response time of
personnel and equipment to the pump station in the event of a pump failure. In addition, please
document the storage capacity and time until overflow of the wet well.
Refer to the subject permit application number when providing the requested information. Please
submit three (3) copies of all information to my attention at the address below. Also,
please note that failure to provide this additional information on or before November 10, 1994 will subject
your application to being returned as incomplete, in accordance with 15A NCAC 2H .0208.
