Marshall Steam Station - NCS000548 — Catawba County
Year 5 — Period 1 Monitoring Report
Dear Sir or Madam:
In accordance with Part III, E (2) of the above referenced NPDES Stormwater permit, the original
and one copy of the Stormwater Discharge Outfall (SDO) monitoring reports are attached and
contain the results of the Year 5 — Period 1 stormwater monitoring at Marshall Steam Station.
Representative Semi -Annual stormwater samples were collected from Outfails SW002, SW003,
SWO04, SW007, SW008, SW011, SW012, SW022 and SW025 on October 30, 2019. The
corresponding laboratory analytical report for the referenced sampling event was received on
November 15, 2019. A summary of anaiytes reported at concentrations above permit benchmarks
is provided below.

Tier inspection were completed at the site on November 25, 2019, for Outfalls 004 and 011
detections. Results of inspections and analytical data will be maintained in the Stormwater
Pollution Prevention Plan on site.

Stormwater outfalls SWOdb, SW009 and SW023 were removed from the Permit NCS000548 by DEQ on June 20. 2019, as stormwater flows in these industrial usage areas have
been rerouted to the facility wastewater system. Stormwater outfalls SW024 and SW025 were added to the referenced permit on September 19. 2018 by DEQ; however, as of
October 2019, Outlall 024 remains unconstructed.
Samples were collected on October 30, 2019. from Stormwater outfalls SW002, SW003, SW004, SWO07, SWO08, SWO1 1, SW012, SW022 and SW025. NO FLOW conditions
were met for Stormwater outfall SW012A. Permit benchmarks were exceeded at SW004 for copper and mercury and at SW01 1 for zinc. SW007 was reported below benchmarks
for the first period following the continued Tier Il status. No other permit benchmarks were exceeded during this monitoring. period.
