I wish to thank David Welch (ORC) who assisted with the inspection. The backup ORC is Tim Bannister. The purpose of the visit was to conduct a compliance inspection as part of the permit renewal process. On the day of the inspection, the septic tank, filters, recirculation tank, Advantex treatmen t units, UV light, pumps, and controls were all inspected and found to be in good working order. The septic tank is checked monthly and is pumped approximately twice a year. There was 14” of sludge in the septic tank. The ORC reports that filters are cleaned once a month, drip field system pressures and operation are checked monthly, the UV is checked 4 times annually and Adventex units are checked and serviced twice a year. The facility is visited once a month. The flow meter readings are recorded by staff of the vet hospital. A new riser was installed over the first chamber of the septic tank and zone valves were repaired since the last inspection. John Davis collects the annual soil samples. The dripfield has four zones. All were found to be in good working order. System pressure is about 40 psi, return pressure is approximately 27 psi and the system delivers 6 to 8 gpm to each zone. Water occasionally ponds in Zone 1 so it is used during drier months. The ORC mentioned that when flushing zone 4, the flow should increase but it doesn’t always. All other zones appear to be working properly. It is possible the check valve at the end of zone 4 may be getting stuck closed. DocuSign Envelope ID: 18C1CA47-72B7-4DF0-9BA1-96D2A689BB3B NDAR’s and NDMRs were reviewed. No records were received by DWR since January, 2018. The ORC stated that all records have been submitted complete and on time. The ORC resubmitted all records to Michele Scott digitally on May 28, 2020. Wastewater samples are being collected and reported properly and the remainder of the records appear to be in good order. In general, this system appears to be very well operated and maintained and is operating in compliance with permit conditions.
