Introduction
The Site is an approximately 6.56 acre property on the Chowan River in Edenton, Chowan
County, North Carolina. The Chowan County Tax Property Identification Number (PIN) is
688400558172. This is an equipment staging and lay -down Site for Waff Contracting and
includes a man-made boat basin that has existing since the 1980's.
Existing Conditions
This waterfront facility is adjacent to open waters of the Chowan River. The accompanying
aerial photo shows the existing improvements. Also attached is a CAMA Permitting Exhibit that
shows improvements that have been permitted along with notes from Waff Contracting.
The Site has received two separate CAMA Major Permits over the years (93-86 and 16-91) for
work that includes basin creation (including working platforms around the perimeter), fixed slips
for boats and barges, and piers into the Chowan River (constructed from recycled bridge
sections).
The only impervious coverage includes recycled concrete working areas around the perimiter of
the basin that were constructed prior to the 30 ft CAMA Buffer rules. There is no fueling,
overnight live -aboard for boaters and no boat ramp or haul -out. Similarly, no boat or automotive
maintenance (blasting, painting, etc.) occurs at this facility.

This permit, issued on January 7, 2020 , is subject to compliance with the application (where consistent
with the permit), all applicable regulations, special conditions and notes set forth below. Any violation of these terms may
be subject to fines, imprisonment or civil action; or may cause the permit to be null and void.
1) This renewal shall be attached to Permit No. 16-91, which was issued to the permittee on 1/25/91, as
well as all subsequent modifications, refinements, and renewals, and copies of all documents shall be
readily available on site when a Division representative inspects the project for compliance.
2) All conditions and stipulations of the active permit remain in force under this renewal.
NOTE: The N.C. Division of Water Resources has assigned the proposed project DWR Project
No.1990-0107.
NOTE: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has assigned the proposed project SAW Action Id. No.
1991-00083.
NOTE: A permit renewal application processing fee of $100 was received by DCM for this project.
This permit action may be appealed by the pennittee or
other qualified persons within twenty (20) days of the issuing
date.
This permit must be accessible on -site to Department
personnel when the project is inspected for compliance.
Any maintenance work or project modification not covered
hereunder requires further .Division approval.
All work must cease when the permit expires on
December 31, 2021
In issuing this permit, the State of North Carolina agrees
that your project is consistent with the North Carolina Coastal
Management Program.
