Monte and Dave,
W-5213 (Old Beatty Ford widening) in Rowan county is currently under construction. During a large rain event last
week, the stream cut around the impervious dike (see attached photo). The permit called for permanent and temporary

stream impacts on the upstream side, but showed no rip rap on the banks. In order to repair the eroded bank, we had
to rebuild it with class II rip rap. The rip rap limits are within the permitted impacts (both temporary and
permanent). Since it was an emergency situation, I gave them the go ahead to get it installed. Note the guy wire
anchoring the power pole that we didn’t want falling. We need to convert 10’ of temporary impacts to permanent bank
stabilization impacts (shown on the attached pdf). I have also linked the permits for reference here. Let me know if you
