ASSESSMENT 8 REMEDIAL SERVICES DIVISION RECEIVED JUL 19 2m Jury 12, 2019 CENTRAL FILES Ms. Amanda McAllister DWR SECTION Mann -Hummel - Allen Plant 2900 Northwest Blvd. Gastonia, NC 28052 RE: Stormwater Sampling Results - North Carolina General Permit No. NCG030000 Certificate of Coverage Number NCG030412 list Semi -Annual 2019 Storm Water Sampling Mann -Hummel — (Former Wix Filtration) Allen Plant 2900 Northwest Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28052 ARM Project No. 12-4003-14 Ms. McAllister: In accordance with the North Carolina Department of Environment, and Natural Resources (NC DENR) stormwater discharge permit, ARM collected the first semi-annual stormwater samples for 2019 at the referenced facility on June 7, 2019. The samples consisted of one stormwater grab sample from the facility stormwater outfall location, and the sample was collected during the rain event in Laboratories clean, pre -preserved, laboratory -prepared sample bottles. The sample was then delivered to Prism, Inc., which is a North Carolina -accredited analytical laboratory. The sample was analyzed for oil and grease, total suspended solids (TSS), copper, lead, zinc, and total toxic organic compounds (volatile and semi -volatile organic compounds) via EPA Methods 624 and 625, per the permit requirements. The attached Table 1 provides a summary of the analytical results (also attached), total flow, and total rainfall. All parameters were below the permitted range benchmarks in the sample, except for the exceedances of TSS, copper and zinc. The TSS exceedance triggers a Tier I response and the copper and zinc exceedances continues the Tier III monitoring. The pH was performed in the field upon sample collection; was within the recommended holding time of 15 minutes; and showed results within the permitted range benchmark value of 6.0-9.0. The Stormwater Discharge Monitoring Report (SDO), which also shows the analytical results for the outfalls are attached. During sample collection, qualitative monitoring of certain parameters was performed and the Qualitative Monitoring Report for each outfall is attached. ARM appreciates the opportunity to provide environmental services to Mann -Hummel. As required by the stormwater permit, please sign the second page of the SDO and then forward the report to the NC DENR-Central Files at the Division of Energy, Mineral, and Land Resources at the address shown on page 2 of the Stormwater Discharge Monitoring Report. Please call us at 704-369-0621, if you have any questions. Sincerely, m",CEtal Inc.
