August 13, 2019 Mr. Ryan Pennington Gastonia Components and Logistics Daimler Trucks North America, LLC 1400 Tulip Drive Gastonia, NC 28052 p % I Z01s Cr CT O IN, Subject: Monthly Sampling — July 2019 NPDES General Permit No. NCG030000 - CoC No. NCG030130 Daimler Trucks, Gastonia Components and Logistics, LLC 1400 Tulip Drive Gastonia, North Carolina Shield Project No. 1140099-07 Dear Mr. Pennington: Shield Engineering, Inc. (Shield) was able to successfully collect a monthly stormwater sample for Stormwater Discharge Outfall (SDO) #001 at the Daimler Trucks Gastonia facility during the month of July 2019. During the July 23`d sampling event, Shield's measurement for pH was 8.7 at SDO #001. The Qualitative Monitoring Reports and a partially completed Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) form are attached to this cover letter. In addition, the analytical results for the stormwater samples collected during the qualifying storm event are attached to this cover letter. Results from the July 23rd sampling event show no exceedances. However, the semi-volatiles components of the total toxic organics (TTO) parameter were not analyzed by the commercial laboratory within the 7 day holding time. Since the facility does implement a Solvent Management Plan, Shield recommends that the Gastonia facility provide a signature for the TTO monitoring waiver for the July 2019 DMR on the top of page 2 of the DMR. Shield is in communication with the commercial laboratory to address the holding time issue. Daimler's Gastonia facility remains in Tier Three of the NPDES General Permit No. NCG030000 at SDO #001 for Copper and pH. Shield will continue to perform monthly sampling at SDO #001 per Tier Two requirements until instructed to halt by Daimler. Shield greatly appreciates the opportunity to provide environmental services to Daimler Trucks, of North America.
