Subject: RE: B-5620 Beaufort Bridge#30 over Campbell Creek
Hi Sarah,
The DCM has reviewed your request for relief from the in-water work moratorium to allow in-water work to continue
until April 14, 2020 at the NCDOT's project to replace Bridge No. 30 over Campbell Creek in Beaufort County . In
accordance with conditions of the CAMA Major Permit issued for this project, and after consideration of your request
and in consultation with the appropriate fisheries resource agencies, DCM has determined that a one-time relaxation of
the in-water work moratorium is appropriate at this time. This email shall serve as official notification that in-water
work as proposed in the attached email thread, may continue up until April 14, 2020. I have coordinated with the
USACE and NCDWR representatives working on this project, and they are generally in agreement with the moratorium
relief as requested. However, please note that the USACE and NCDWR also have moratorium conditions in their permits
and NCDOT will need to wait receive the formal authorizations from them for relief from the moratorium, prior to
beginning any in-water work during the proposed relief period. Please let us know If we may be of any further
assistance with this project.
Sincerely,
Stephen Lane
Coastal Management Representative

Importance: High
Stephen,
We would like your consideration in postponing the start of the moratorium on permit 3-18 on the
subject project by 14 days to April 14, 2020.
Attached is the Contractors planned schedule, the concrete pours are scheduled close together, but
they can use high early strength to achieve the needed strength. To drive the interior bent piles for
stage II of the bridge they intend on cutting holes through the existing bridge deck to drive them.
Then demolishing the rest of the bridge after the moratorium begins.
Thanks,
i
