Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade

Dear Mr. Carlton:
A letter of request for Authorization to Construct was received August -19,
1983, by the Division and final plans and specifications for the. subject project•,•.•- ,
have been reviewed and found to be satisfactory. Authorization is hereby granted
for the construction of a 0.5 MGD wastewater treatment facility consisting-of`
180,000 gallon aerated equilization basin with mechanical floating aerator and - -
duplex recirculation pump station, mechanical bar screen,- vortex. grit chamber,
flow splitter box with flow recorder, modifications to the existing contact stabi-
lization facility to create a 0.5 MG aeration basin, dual blowers, a 40-foot
diameter clarifier, duplex sludge return pump station, chlorine contact basin,
two (2) 800 square feet vacuum sludge drying beds and all related piping, valves,
and appurtenances to serve the Town of Yadkinville.
This Authorization to Construct is issued in accordance with Part III
paragraph C of NPDES Permit No. NCO020338 issued June 30, 1980, and shall be subject
to revocation unless the wastewater treatment facilities are constructed in .
accordance with the conditions and limitations specified in Permit No. NC0020338.
The Permittee must employ a certified wastewater operator in accordance
with Part III paragraph D of the referenced permit.
The sludge generated from these treatment facilities must be disposed of in
accordance with General Statutes 143-215.1 and in a manner approvable by the
North Carolina Division of Environmental Management
In event the facilities fail to perform satisfactorily in meeting it's
NPDES permit effluent limits, the Town of Yadkinville shall take such immediate
corrective action as may be required by this Division, including the construction- . ... .'.
of additional wastewater treatment and disposal facilities.
