In response to your Notice of Violation February 24, 2020 the Town of Vanceboro strives to
maintain compliance with all permit requirements.
• Manhole #2 and #4 — Between Main and James Streets — Inflow and Infiltration issues,
which resulted in 980 gallons SSO.
The Town of Vanceboro Collection System had a SSO, which resulted from rainfall of 3/4" and
3.7" of snowfall prior to the incident taking place. Immediately of being notified of the spill we
utilized Braxton Septic Tank to start pumping. Over the next five days two pump trucks
removed 148,000 gallons to ensure the problem was resolved. We also hired James L. Cayton
Associates to install four new water tite castings at Manhole #2 through Manhole #5, which are
in a low lying area. Cayton also provided there pump truck during this episode. We also had
Cayton to repair a manhole that prevented water from running into the collection system. We
have included copies of invoices from Braxton Septic Tank and James L. Cayton Associates,
which totaled $31,060.68.
