On February 7, 2020, Joan Schneier and Chris Smith of the NC Division of Water Resources (DWR),
Water Quality Regional Operations Section, and Chloe Lloyd and Vivien Zhong of the DWR Non
Discharge Permitting Branch did a compliance inspection on the above wastewater treatment
system, in support of permit renewal. We would like to thank Jonathan Handley and Chad Allen from
AQWA, Inc., who assisted during the inspection and performed routine maintenance. On the date
inspected, the system was non -compliant, only due to the fence.
SIudge levels were moderate at iS inches in the inlet side of the septic tank, with some scum
(normally caused by grease), and a lot less sludge in the remaining tanks. All filters were cleaned
during the inspection. The UV bulb and both the recirc and dosing tank high water alarms worked.
Flows to the field were reasonably consistent across all zones. A few minor leaks were fixed in the
drip lines. The fence around the drip field (which is a homeowner responsibility) was down in
numerous places.
Please have the fence fixed within 60 days and notify this office at [phone] when that is done.
A minimum of two strands of wire are required, entirely encircling the field. Also, please see the
attached inspection check list. If you have any questions concerning this inspection, please contact
