Subject: Request for a NW 3 permit for strengthening bridge #21 on SR 1311 (North Lake Road) in
Hyde County.
The NCDOT is requesting a NW 3 permit for strengthening bridge #21 on SR 1311 (North Lake
Road) in Hyde County. This bridge is located in Waupopin Canal. Waupopin Canal is within the Tar-
Pamlico drainage basin and classified as SC by the DWQ. Waupopin Canal is considered anadromous fish
spawning waters by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. The existing bridge needs the
additional "H" piles and crutch bents to sustain the weight of farm equipment and trucks hauling grain.
The new piles and bents will be placed in the center of the existing piles and bents. Included with this
request is a location map and permit drawings depicting the proposed work. Thanks for you efforts in this
