The Swannanoa River does not appear on the TMDL snap for the state, however, there is a
section of the river appearing on the 303d list.
The Swannanoa River is currently Impaired due to a fair bioclassification rating given to benthic
macroinvertebrate sampling site EB 144.
There town is participating in improvements and increasing strategies to support the TMDL of
the French Broad River, and to improve the impaired status of the Swannanoa River within town
jurisdiction.
