Dear Mr. Smith:
In accordance with NC Environmental Management Commission Special Order by Consent, EMC
SOC WQ S19-001, Duke Energy Progress, LLC (Duke) is hereby submitting this notification that
Cape Fear began dewatering of the inactive Ash Basins on 11/12/2019. This notification fulfills
our obligation found in the subject Orders Section 2(b)(3).

I certify, under penalty of law, that this document and all attachments were prepared under my
direction or supervision in accordance with a system designed to assure that qualified personnel
